Hidden in the center of The Sunshine State is beautiful Lakeland, Florida. This fun loving city is the largest in Polk County, with an average temperature of 72 degrees a year. Lakeland is a fast growing city with more than 90,000 residents, while over 580,000 people call Polk County home.
One of Lakeland's great advantages is its incredible location. It is located between Tampa and Orlando on the Interstate 4 corridor, as residents can easily reach both cities in less than an hour's drive. Also a short drive heading east is Walt Disney World, while the beaches of the Gulf Coast are easily accessible about an hours drive west.
More attractions within the area include; Busch Gardens, Universal Studios, Sea World, Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo, and Legoland opening in October 2011.
During spring training baseball, Lakeland is home to the Detroit Tigers, as they traditionally prepare for their upcoming seasons at Joker Marchant Stadium. Other professional sport franchises in Central Florida are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Tampa Rays, the Tampa Lightning, and the Orlando Magic.
Another favorite spot for residents is Lakeland’s Lakeside Village, a thriving community with numerous shops, restaurants, hotels, and other attractions.
