SEU Battles But Loses to Warner

Lady Fire Goes 0-2 Versus Fellow Polk County Schools on the Weekend

Box Score

LAKE WALES, Fla.--Warner University extended Southeastern's losing streak to seven games on Saturday, defeating the Lady Fire in three games (24-26, 19-25, 23-25). The Lady Fire was determined to snap their losing streak this weekend, but ended up losing to both of their Polk County rivals on the weekend instead. SEU fell to Webber International, 3-1, Friday evening.

Southeastern fought hard in their match versus Warner, coming up short in two of the three games by just two points.

Warner used a close victory in game one to catapult their way to an important Sun Conference victory. The Lady Royals committed 12 hitting errors in game one, but pushed those mistakes aside in game two to finish with 13 kills and just five errors. In game three, Warner nearly duplicated those numbers ending the set with 13 kills and six errors. On the other side, Southeastern made 17 attack errors in game two and three combined.

The Lady Royals ended outhitting Southeastern, 41-32, for the night. Defensively, the Lady Royals also won the dig contest, finishing with 67 digs compared to 56 for Southeastern.

Warner's Joelle Warring led all hitters with 12 kills. Allison Kennedy made 16 digs while Jarra Garner and Lauren Cline both chipped in with 11 digs apiece.

Warner improves to 6-8 overall and 4-4 in conference play.

Southeastern freshman, Katie Trenski, led the team with 16 digs. Karina Mambuca and Catherine Coston both had six kills apiece.

Tara McSherley dished out 21 assists, made nine digs, and had five kills. Christi Limpert added five kills, three solo blocks, and three assisted blocks.

Southeastern falls to 4-10 overall and 1-5 within the conference. The schedule does not get any easier for Southeastern, as they will travel to play NCAA D-I Stetson University, on Tuesday night. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
