SEU Eliminated From National Finals As Oklahoma Wesleyan Wins Pool A
MASON, Ohio--Southeastern University defeated Malone University, 6-2, Thursday evening behind a strong pitching performance from Justin Mauldin.
Mauldin pitched six innings and allowed just two earned runs on seven hits. He improved his record to 9-5 on the year, and finished the season throwing over 100 innings with 89 strikeouts.
William Glessner went 2-for-3 with a run and a RBI, and finished his day going 5-for-7 with four runs, two stolen bases, and a RBI combined between both games.
Seniors, Kyle Petrick and Tyler Ruehlman also had nice games offensively. Petrick ended 3-for-3 with a run and a RBI, while Ruehlman added two hits, a run, and two RBIs.
It was Southeastern's second win of the day as the Fire defeated Olivet Nazarene, 7-2, earlier in the morning. Despite their two victories on Thursday, Southeastern was still eliminated from national championship contention when Oklahoma Wesleyan defeated Cedarville, 8-1, Thursday afternoon. The victory improved OWU's record to 3-0 in the pool play format, while Southeastern sits at 2-1, with their lone loss coming to OWU.
Southeastern (43-20) will end their season with a game versus Cedarville University, Friday morning, at 10:00 a.m.
